Sentosa is heating up again.

The outdoor film scene in Singapore has left much to be desired. With the exception of the annual Films at the Fort festival and the now dormant Under the Banyan Tree series at National Museum Singapore, outdoor screenings are largely relegated to one-offs on the rooftops of gallery spaces. That began to change with the arrival of co-working space The Hive's small-scale Singapore Open Air Cinema Club late last year. But if their perpetually sold-out tickets and the yearning of our own hearts are any indication, there's still plenty of room in the market, which is why we're excited to tell you that there's soon going to be a new outdoor cinema club in town, and that too on the beach with ocean views.

The currently mysterious Sunset Cinema Tanjong Beach is brought to you by the people behind Films at the Fort. And it's not just a one-off event, but a multi-day festiavl type thing, promising, at least on their Facebook page, "award-winning films, tropical beach sunsets, DJs, bars, food stalls, deck chairs." The opening might just be enough to seal Tanjong Beach an official weekend hotspot this year, as the stretch also welcomed new beach club FOC Sentosa in recent months, and original neighbor Tanjong Beach Club recently unveiled a new menu.

No details yet on the opening date, but they promise a line-up soon. Repeated requests for further information have gone unanswered for now, but we're sure we'll be learning about a launch date and the initial film program any time now.

Correction: A previous version of the article stated the cinema club was a permanent venue. Sunset Cinema Tanjong Beach has gotten in touch to say that it is, in fact, a multi-day event, not a permanent venue. No further details on the line-up or dates, though.
