A potential New Year resolution, perhaps?

Wanderlusting is probably at an all-time high now, and you're probably in a serious holiday mood, but hey, it doesn't hurt to play a little for 2017 because by now, you would've probably indulged in a little too many tipples and sinful gourmet food fare. With the New Year just around the corner, start thinking about your resolutions. And if keeping fit happens to be one of them, take the first step by committing to these few runs happening in 2017.

Pokemon Run (Jan 14)

Just when we thought the Pokemon craze had died down, there's going to be a first-ever Pokemon-themed run in Singapore for all budding Pokemon trainers (and of course, running enthusiasts). Held at the Promontory @ Marina Bay, the run will also have the fictional Pallet Town replete with Pokemon-themed games and delicacies, where “trainers” can mingle after the run. Tickets are priced from $70.

Run for Light (Jan 14)

Run for Light 2017 aims to raise awareness and funds for Guide Dogs Association of the Blind (GDAB). It has its usual 3km, 5km and 10km courses but what stands out the most has to be their blindfold walk. When you register for the the blindfold walk, the organizers will waive off $10 from the registration fee which in return will go to GDAB. Tickets are priced from $38.

Safari Run (Feb 17)

Yes, it's happening at the Singapore Zoo. You can either join in this fun safari run on a competitive or non-competitive level across 2.5km, 5.5km and 10km routes, but make sure you pick one of the four animal icon teams—Ah Meng the Orangutan, Chawang the Asian ELephant, Canola the Manatee and Sunny the Hornbill—as each one supports the conservation of a certain species. Tickets are priced from $40.

Run for Hope (Feb 19)

The 24th Run For Hope is organized by the Four Seasons Hotel Singapore, Regent Singapore and the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS). Choose to run either the 3.5km or 10km route, all in the name of cancer research. Tickets are priced from $45.

Marina Run (Feb 25)

Race through Gardens by the Bay, Tanjong Rhu Promenade and East Coast Park with views of the waterfront at this marathon with 5km, 10km and 21km categories. For the less serious participants, the 5km fun run will have volunteers and families of runners armed with water pistols for some wholesome fun. Tickets are priced from $43.
