Japanophiles, experience Hokkaido without leaving Singapore
Sake, food from gourmei yatai stalls and more.
We're so spoilt for choice when it comes to anything Japan-related: Japanese food enclaves are aplenty, Japanese-centric film festivals give us insight to the Japanese way of living and this year's Anime Festival Asia will bring together anime lovers and cosplayers alike. Part of SJ50 celebrations, Resorts World Sentosa is working together with the Hokkaido government to bring you the inaugural Hello Hokkaido! festival, showcasing all things from this quaint Japanese island from Nov 18-27.
Sprawling over 2,300 sq meters, The Forum and Resorts World Convention Centre will be transformed to replicate the streets of Hokkaido. There are over 20 food stations serving up a smorgasbord of Japanese food such as the popular tonkatsu by Hokkaido Ramen Santouka, Ohara Farm’s melon flavored soft serve and the roast beef rice bowl by Hokkaido Izakaya. You can also stock up on with fresh produce and treats such as air-flown seafood from Esashi and and fat-rich salmon from Teshio.
For sake lovers, enjoy a wide range of Japanese rice wine from outstanding breweries like Hakodate wine, Grande Polaire, Nippon Seishu and Kitano Homare, all served at the festival's sake bar. On the entertainment front, musical acts like pop singer Mashiro Ayano, girl band Milcs Honmono and an award-winning shamisen (traditional Japanese lute) player, Niya will transport you to the streets of Hokkaido.
