With Osaka's cheese tart specialist Pablo set to open in October, here are the top spots to try this ooey gooey trending treat.

Bake

Originating from Sapporo, this cheese tart chain created crazy long queues upon its arrival in Bangkok a year ago. The particular blend inside these tarts (B80) consists of two mild cream cheeses from Japan and a saltier French variety. The tarts are made fresh daily and the palm-sized bites ooze with a nuanced flavor of salty and sweet.

Toast Company

This restaurant specializes in pretty everything made out of dough, so it's no surprise they also serve these tiny and tasty little treats. Toast's cheese tart (B80) has a crispy shell and a center that gushes with cheese. With a healthy dusting of powdered sugar this tart is definitely on the sweet side.

This Hokkaido-inspired spot has the crowning achievement of being the first place in Thailand to offer this trending treat. Their bite-sized "rare cheese tart" (B75) comes encased in a puffy pastry shell.

Me & Cheese NEW!

Yet another tart shop that has its roots in Japan. This chain from Sendai makes oval-shaped tarts (B65) that are made with a secret 3-cheese blend. The texture is cheesecake-like, but what they lack in ooze-factor they make up for in flavor. Me & Cheese has nailed the taste of this pastry. We're still waiting for them to open a standalone store, but for now you can always get them at Siam Discovery.

MX Cakes & Bakery NEW!

These savory-but-sweet tarts (B65) from Hong Kong's Maxim bakery may be new to Bangkok but they've long had a place in locals' hearts. With a baking station in full view you're able to watch every step of the pastry-making process, from the filling of the tart shell to the moment they're pulled out of the oven. The baking process leaves the tarts golden with a flaky crust, but the center still gushes with cheesiness.

Pablo Cheese Tart COMING SOON!

Osaka's oozing tarts will be making their Bangkok debut this October and after some sleuthing we've discovered that Pablo's secret is the apricot jam they cover their tarts in. They'll be offering both regular and mini sized pastries, and there will be a few cheese tarts that no other place on this list offers, like matcha and chocolate. Also worth mentioning: Pablo's premium cheese tart with a crunchy-crispy texture and taste of creme brulee. Set to open on Oct 27—save the date!

G/F, Siam Paragon, 991/1 Rama 1 Rd.
