Eat, drink and be merry as Mexican heritage festival Cinco De Mayo (Spanish for fifth of May)—which commemorates the victory of Mexican troops over the French forces in the Battle of Puebla in 1862—rolls around this Friday. Here's where to go to celebrate the occasion.

La Monita and Osito

This Mexican institution (#22 in our Top Tables 2017 guide) and Spanish neighbor throw a mini party in celebration of the Mexican holiday. You will find tacos, barbecue and booze stands in the parking lot in front of the restaurant with some special deals like 2-for-1 Corona beer and some free shots from Bootleggers. There's no entry fee but to get the deals, you’ll have to sign up for its membership (free) via La Monita’s new mobile app. Normal service also runs as usual. See event page.

Mexicano

The former Senor Pico throws a Taco & Latin Dance Party with live band and DJs. Local beers at B100 and margaritas throughout the event, and special dishes like corn cakes with pork pabil and arroz con leche all at B250. Free entry. Advance reservation recommended. See event post

Tacos & Salsa

Sukhumvit Soi 18's homespun Mexican restaurant celebrates with a special taco platter: 12 tacos with choice of pork carnitas, beef and grilled chicken for B550. There also promises to be classic margaritas at B150 and a 2-for-1 deal on Corona beer. Reservation recommended. See event post.

Slanted Taco

To celebrate they're offering jugs of margarita, mojitos and sangria for B999, 2-for-1 tacos and tequila flights (B599). See event page

Barrio Bonito

On May 5 (dinner) and 7 (lunch), this Mexican restaurant at The Commons will serve a five-course Mexican-Thai fusion meal (B1,800 per person) with dishes including guacamole Thai and tum hua pli tostadas, ceviche tom kha amd chipotle stuffed with poo lon, and more  (B1,800). Charley Brown's

The newly relocated Mexican restaurant celebrates Cinco de Mayo for the 25th time. Starting from 5pm, you can expect half-priced margaritas and sangria, free tequila shots, Latin music mixes and pinatas to be smashes. They're also promising a couple of BBQ pigs for freshly made pork tacos. See event page.
