It's not very often you'll catch Apartment Khunpa in such an intimate setting.

Soulbar, the bar which brought live soul and funk to the largely nightlife-free Charoenkrung Road, is turning two.

And it will celebrate in fine style, with four gigs across four nights, this Aug 25-28, including what will be a super-intimate set from Bangkok indie royalty Apartment Khunpa and a swing dance night.

The full line-up is as follows:

Aug 25: Mangosteen organ trio (part of Oldtown Groove; B300 for entry to Soulbar and Soy Sauce Bar with 1 beer)
Aug 26: Resident acts Motherfunky, The Lowdowns, Supergoods
Aug 27: Apartment Khunpa (B300)
Aug 28: Soultrain Night (after-party for the Bangkok Swing event at Cho Why, Soi Nana, that same day)

Soulbar opened in August 2014, taking over an old shop-house in the historic Talad Noi neighborhood, and it remains a one-of-a-kind live music venue. As co-founder Romain Dupuy told us: "We chose the place for its spirit and soul, so we kept existing elements like the floor, the stairs, the counter. The interior design was simple: we wanted the spirit of old joints in London or Paris. I wanted to include a bit of the community in our bar."
