This Saturday (Nov 25) sees the closing party of Drink Local, Bangkok's first drinks festival dedicated entirely to Thai-made craft spirits.

Taking place at The Commons, the 10-hour celebration will bring together 12 of the city's top bars who'll be championing seven local spirits.

These include Backstage (Iron Balls), Bamboo Bar (Malai), Bunker (Grandma Jinn), Cielo (Kristal), Crying Thaiger (Chalong Bay), Eat Me (Issan Rum), The Locker Room (Issan Rum), Rabbit Hole (Three Monkeys), Sorrento (Malai), Tep Bar (Three Monkeys), Vertigo Too (Grandma Jinn) and Zuma (Kristal).

Each bar will have a booth serving their signature local-spirit cocktail—at B160 all night long.

The tastes are decidedly Thai, too. Rabbit Hole's concotion, Bangkok Fruit Stall, mixes Three Monkeys Rum, mango with sweet fish sauce, guava juice and Stevia, garnished with a mango slice. Bamboo Bar takes a spicier route with Suay Siam: Malai White Rum, Malai Thai tea, coconut and all-spice shrub, and cardamom, while Backstage Bar's Mother Earth combines Iron Balls Gin with fresh jasmine rice water, niam leaves syrup, lime juice, egg whites and pinewood smoke.

And here's the other cool thing: the organizers are claiming to push through with a concept of "sustainable bartending." That means, for instance, biodegradable plastic cups and morning glory straws courtesy of Broccoli Revolution.

UPDATE: The story initially listed Teens of Thailand as one of 13 bars participating, but this is no longer the case.
