Now in its third week BK’s BAD Night Out is in full swing. Through Nov 30, the cocktail-hopping event will continue its journey across 40 of the city’s top bars—gin joints, hideaways, rooftops and BAD Award-baiting cocktail dens, all offering specially curated menus with three drinks going for a flat rate of B800++.

How does it work?

Each week (Wed-Sat), the selection of bars will change, allowing our readers try some of the cool venues we write about in BK. The event coincides with our annual nightlife showdown: the BAD Awards (you can see last year’s winners here), happening on Nov 21.

You’ll have to book in advance through our website. When you arrive at the venue, they will give each member of the booking party three tickets that can be spent on cocktails created for BAD Night Out—you can split between friends, or drink all three yourself (we’re not judging).

Bookings must be made at least 24 hours in advance.

Here are the bars and drinks you can look forward to this week.

WEEK 3 (Nov 13 - Nov 16)

Cactus

Thanks to the downtown Yen Akat location, here you get to enjoy views of big trees and low-rise buildings. The bar maintains a connection with the greenery outside through a glass wall, which ensures you won’t feel like you’re trapped in a boxy room like most other cocktail bars. It is also half open-air, so you get to enjoy all that nature even more, while pretending you’re drinking in summertime Palm Springs, California, surrounded by cacti. Take the stairs up to the rooftop for a quieter, more relaxed atmosphere, where you can chill around the bonfire.

Hard Rock Cafe

Decked out in a ton of legendary rock music memorabilia with a soundtrack to match, this high energy bar and restaurant has branches in practically every major city worldwide.

Iron Balls Gin Parlour

An offshoot of Ekkamai's Iron Balls gin distillry and bar, this snug drinking hole bears all the extravagant hallmarks of Ashley Sutton design. Its cozy ship cabin ambience is elevated by a ceiling carpeted in thousands of layered bottles that catch the light of the room’s chandeliers and candles. It is located on Soi Sukhumvit 45, in the same alley as Casa Pagoda, Sing Sing Theater and Gigi Italian Kitchen.

This rooftop haunt features an indoor lounge and a romantic outdoor seating area with a pool, where Thai and international food meets fruity cocktails.

Nowhere

It might only be six floors up, but there's nothing obstructing the cool, 180-degree views of the neighborhood from a table at Nowhere. It sits atop the Tha City Loft Hotel, a 64-room property with on-trend decor: gray walls, mid-century furniture, fake plants galore. Once up there, you'll be greeted by bare concrete steps in the center of a minimal glass cube courtesy of interior design firm Stu/d/o.

Safe Room

Whiteline, Silom Soi 8’s old shop-house-turned-grungy nightlife destination, draws you in with its easy going bar, but it’s the hidden party zone upstairs that has the ‘heads talking. On weekends, you’ll find the place abuzz with the city’s busiest promoters, playing techno and d’n’b through to heavy electronics, with the odd international guest thrown in.

Spectrum Lounge & Bar

Spread over three levels and 280 sq meters, Spectrum can accommodate almost 300 people. The inviting indoor living room comes with a sky blue velvet carpet, a glowing gold fretwork ceiling, a black marble bar and Thai artwork, while the dramatic outdoor bar features wooden decking and lime-cushioned chairs flanked by purple neon light—for date night, opt for one of the rooftop’s cozy tree-lined alcoves.

To More

Charoenkrung has been on the constant rise these past few years. Now that this new boutique cocktail bar has filled the old home of Soulbar, we reckon there’s no place in town that makes for better bar-hopping. Looking in from the outside, moody lights combined with thick, red curtains will pique your curiosity. On entering, you’ll feel like you’ve just walked into something between an 18th-century theater and a '40s jazz club.
