Fancy pot-luck party Diner en Blanc continues despite the haze
Unlike the rest of us, the smog is not on the waiting list.
You've probably heard of Diner en Blanc, the atas picnic with an all-white dress code that's held at a secret location every year. It's also where the hoi-polloi bring gourmet food items meant for sharing, pot-luck style.
Because (obviously) no one likes dining in the smog, this year's event has been postponed to Nov 21. Those who already hold invites for initial Oct 20 event can still use the same registration code to attend the event in November. For the rest of us who don't have a "sponsor" (an e-recommendation from a friend), you can bribe, beg or sweet-talk your friends (Facebook or otherwise), colleagues or neighbors—basically anyone who's already invited—by Oct 27, and you're in.
Regular plebians who want to attend the event for the first time but don't know anyone who's already invited can register to be on their waiting list. This, however, does not guarantee you a spot. And if you're lucky enough to score one, you have to pay $50, and an additional $12 to be invited again next year. Hey, at least you get bragging rights on Instagram, right?
More details on how to register, check out the event's Facebook page.
