Get away from the concrete jungle and get a taste of bucolic life at The Jim Thompson Farm (Pak Thong Chai District, Nakorn Ratchasima. www.jimthompsonfarm.com) from Dec 18-Jan 9, 9am-5pm. Established in 1988 and covering a total area of 600 rais, the farm is only open to the public for a limited time but features the chance to see silk worms at work, visit the pumpkin patch as well as shop for organic goods and handicrafts at the Famer’s Market. If you would rather do without the hassles of hiking out there yourself, The Siam Society is organizing a day trip to the farm on Dec 19, from 7am-8pm. Led by Jane Puranananda, consultant for The James H. W. Thompson Foundation, the tour costs B1,800 (inclusive of entrance fee, refreshments and transportation), and leaves from Siam Society (131 Asoke Montri Rd., Sukhumvit 21. BTS Asok).
