Wellness retreats in Alexandra, Pilates studios in Buona Vista, fancy yoga in Marina Bay... better keep up.

Last month, we couldn't write fast enough about all the affordable community yoga classes happening at various outdoor spaces. This month, it's back to new, fancy studio openings, rooftop wellness events and one crunchy-granola retreat in Alexandra. Here's what wellness geeks in Singapore need to know in August.

Buona Vista has a fancy new Pilates studio

Rochester Mall just got Equilibre Pilates Studio, a soothing, minimalist, sun-drenched space lead by former Taiwanese ballerina Susan Su-Lengowski, offering Pilates and barre classes as well as gyrotonic sessions. The focus is on small classes. There's individual sessions, with just yourself or a couple friends, but even group classes are capped at six participants. Prices start at $50 for a one-time barre class, though packages are available.

You can now exercise weekly on that People's Park Complex rooftop

After hosting a bunch of markets, movie screenings and the famous few Getai music festivals, eatery and beer park Lepark is launching Lepark Sweat this weekend, promising a different workout experience every Saturday night, so you can soak in their spectacular sunset while you sweat. Things kick off on Aug 6 with a yoga session led by Urban Yogis at 6pm.

Pure Yoga has a pretty, massive new space in the CBD

Launched in late July, the new Pure Yoga space at Asia Square, a hop and a skip from the Downtown MRT station and the same building as Pure Fitness, is almost 11,000 sq ft, with four main practice rooms, a shop, a beige-wood-and-whitewashe-brick decor, all their fancy chaning room amenities and a new focus on the 5 Pillars class classification system (Healing, Grounding, Dynamic, Hot and Specialized). More here.

There's an all-day wellness retreat in Alexandra

Known for organizing the creative and communal Brunch Bandits and, more recently, the Sunday yoga sessions at Little India, Nithiya N. is now putting together a holistic retreat on the edge of leafy Hort Park, in partnership with Edible Gardens. The Brunch Bandits Superhuman-Wellness Retreat is taking place on Aug 27, from 9am-5pm. There will be prana yoga, a cooking workshop on Asian superfoods and lots of delicious and healthy snacks and kombucha. It's $150 per person and limited to 20 participants only, so get booking.
