It is also the first museum gallery where you can bring food and drinks.

National Museum is continuing its exciting upgrade. Just a few weeks ago, it unveiled its rejigged Glass Rotunda, which now features dazzling, immersive digital projections inspired by the William Farquhar collection. Now they're following it up with the opening of the brand new Gallery 10.

The new fully digital experimental space, which currently occupies the site of former Chinese restaurant Chef Chan’s, very timely. Besides serving the public, Gallery10 will also explore and celebrate the relationship between digital technology and art through various creative and innovative artists collaborations, using the gallery’s state-of-the-art projection technology. You can check out the action at the gallery’s first permanent installation, Art of the Rehearsal, a collaboration between multidisciplinary artist Sarah Choo Jing and commercial cinematographer Jeffrey Ang, showcasing the back alleyways of Chinatown, Kampong Glam and Little India through a three-channel video installation. Here, nine dancers from Asparas Arts, Era Dance Theatre and the Singapore Hokkien Huay Kuan Dance Theatre, are seen practising their various cultural dance forms like bharatnatyam and silat, and the various routines they go through before a performance. Besides the current installation, you can look forward other upcoming projects to be announced at a later date.

Gallery10 is now open, showcasing Art of the Rehearsal daily from 10am-5pm. Free admission. More info here.
