As of midnight tonight, television channel Voice TV will be suspended for seven days after repeatedly violating media reporting regulations as set by the junta.

The decision, made by the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commision (NBTC), comes after several complaints were filed regarding multiple Voice TV programs, including  In Her View, Bai Tong Haeng On Air and Overview. All have been charged of reporting misleading and inaccurate information to the public which can lead to political conflict.

The channel received 10 warnings from the government last year, and aledgedly failed to make the required changes. Examples of inflamatory content include an articicle criticising the progress of the Dhammakaya temple arrest, inaccuracies on stories involving fugitive red shirt "Ko Tee," and a report on the killing of a Lahu activist who was shot dead last week.

Owned by Panthongthae Shinawatra, the only son of ousted prime miniter Thaksin Shinawatra, Voice TV is known for its liberal voice that often comes in conflict with the opinions of the junta.

Since the announcement, Voice TV have released a statement on their website defending their accurate reporting, and reiterating that their opinion matters, even if it differs with that of the junta. It also states that its content does not cause social conflict because it is factual.

Until Voice TV returns to the air on Apr 4, stay tuned to their official website and Facebook page for updates on the situation.
