Low Fat Screening: The Underground Cinema

In an attempt to provide a platform for independent filmmakers and film lovers to share their creative process, this film festival showcases works under two categories: Submitted Films by Young Filmmaker in Unlimited Genres and Curated Works by Professional Filmmakers. Arguably the highlight is a screening of Apichatpong Weerasethikul's 2006 film Mysterious Object at Noon.

Barisa Sunday Cinema Volume 3: Supersonic: Oasis Story 

The rooftop restaurant holds another edition of its outdoor screening night, this time showing the 2016 documentary by director Mat Whitecross which follows the career of popular 90s rock band Oasis and their rise to fame, including never-before-seen concert footage and rare candid interviews.

Documentary Film Night: Return to Homs

A screening of Talal Derki’s 2013 biographical short film following football star Abdul Basset Saroot as he becomes a protest leader in war-torn Syria.

Jam Cine Club: Man with a Movie Camera

This edition of the dive bar's weekly movie night screens Dziga Vertov's 1929 silent documentary depicting the city of Moscow from sunrise to sunset, paired with a choice of soundtracks made for the film. Audience members are asked to bring their own headphones.

Queer Film Screening: Be a Woman

Chinese filmmaker and queer activist Fan Popo stops by Bangkok to present his drag queen documentary Be a Woman (2011) which explores a bar named Only Love and the lives of the dancers who work there.  The event is hosted by Brian Curtin and there will be a discussion about the film after the screening.

A Design Film Festival

The film festival dedicated to celebrating the design industry returns with eight documentary films covering street art, jewelry design, technology and more. Among them is Banksy Does New York, a documentary spanning a month in the life of the British graffiti master, as well as Crazy about Tiffany’s, which charts the 180-year-old American jewelry brand’s rise to becoming a global icon.
