NIGHTLIFE: Gin Jubilee

The international celebration of all things gin, which has previously taken place in Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong and Singapore, comes to Bangkok bringing the world's finest gins to the city's best bars for a series of masterclasses, workshops and tastings. For the closing event at Quaint on Feb 4, 17 of Bangkok's best bartenders will compete for the title of "Bangkok's best Gin & Tonic"—see more details here.

GIG: Hariguem Zaboy's Kart, Launch Album Party

Fresh from supporting Danish act Marching Church, the rocking four-piece follow up their 2014 debut Thick Mink with new album Kart on Panda Records. If first taste “Semi-Sec” is anything to go by, we can expect an even more ferocious blend of distorted guitars and obscured vocals.

ART: Galleries' Night 

Returning for its fourth edition, this weekend-long event hosts special art exhibitions, musical performances, screenings and artist meet ups around 47 of the city's best galleries and art spaces. Split into two nights, participants can hop from one gallery to another along a pre-mapped route, with Feb 3 focused on venues along Silom/the riverside, and Feb 4 focused on venues along Sukhumvit.

ART: Bypass

As part of his first solo exhibition, Pakkawat Tanghom presents a series of photographs captured over the past five years documenting his various road trips around Thailand.

Eleven established and rising street, graffiti and mixed media artists from around Southeast Asia join together, including Thailand's Lolay and Chip 7, along with Hideyuki Katsumata (Japan) and GR1 (Korea), Mr. Ogay (Taiwan).

OUT OF TOWN: Mystic Valley Festival Thailand

This brand new three-day music festival in the mountains features four stages of music including EDM, trap, house, techno, indie and trance from more than 50 international DJs such as Fedde le Grande, Sven Vath, Sander van Doorn and more. Tickets available at Thaiticketmajor.

SPECIAL SCREENINGS: Japanese Film Festival

In celebration of 130 years of Thailand-Japan diplomatic relations, this film festival showcases 14 Japanese films ranging from drama to comedy, with the opening screening being In This Corner of the World, Sunao Katabuchi's award-winning animation film. After Bangkok, the festival will continue on to Chiang Mai, Kon Khaen and Phuket.

MUSIC FESTIVALS: Cat Expo 3D

Organized by Cat Radio, one of the city's most popular music festivals returns, gathering over a hundred emerging and veteran local bands together for a weekend of live music, food and drinks. Highlight names include Scrubb, Tattoo Colour, Slot Machine, Yellow Fang, Singto Numchok and many more. Tickets available at Thaiticketmajor.

SPORTS: Bangkok Marathon 2016

The country's biggest marathon returns to the Old Town, offering 42, 21 and 10km runs around the Grand Palace and beyond. Free bus transfer to the race destination is offered from Lumphini Park and Victory Monument. Register at www.bkkmarathon.com.

ART: Jack Poohvis x Marc Stuart 

A collaborative exhibition showcasing the colorful, graphic works of the Barcelona artist and the Brooklyn-based Thai artist, in which limited edition prints and art pieces will also be for sale.

SPECIAL SCREENINGS: The 60 Second Film Festival

Back for the second year, this event aims to showcase the best of super short films made from budding and professional filmmakers in Bangkok. The night will showcase the submitted films, followed by an awards ceremony to the winners, including the selected "Best Film" which will win a B10,000 cash prize.

CONCERTS: Goo Goo Dolls

The American rock band, best known for their 1998 hit single "Iris", make their Bangkok debut to promote their eleventh studio album, Boxes, which includes hit singles like "Over and Over" and "So Alive". Tickets are available from Thaiticketmajor.

OUT OF TOWN: Wonderfruit

After postponing its original dates in December, the four-day festival of art, music, food and wellness often referred to as "Thailand's version of Coachella"  returns, with music highlights including Rudimental, Shura and Isaan sensation Rasmee.

MARKETS: Sansiri Market Fest

The popular outdoor market, previously dubbed the Winter Market Fest, returns, featuring more than 180 booths from trendy food and fashion stalls under the concept "Love Sharing" in keeping with Valentine's Day. There is a free shuttle bus from BTS On Nut.

FAIRS: Thailand Coffee Festival

Considered the biggest coffee event in Southeast Asia, this fair features booths from roasteries, distributors and equipment manufacturers, alongside coffee-related workshops and seminars, coffee brewing competitions and plenty of pop-up cafes.

NIGHTLIFE: Steve Aoki

The popular American electro house DJ stops by Bangkok to spin his best tracks with support from the Retox Sessions party crew.

SPECIAL SCREENINGS: Queer Film Screening: Be a Woman

Chinese filmmaker and queer activist, Fan Popo, stops by Bangkok to present his drag queen documentary Be a Woman (2011) which explores a bar named Only Love and the lives of the dancers who work there.  The event is hosted by Brian Curtin and there will be a discussion about the film after the screening.

SPORTS: The Music Run

After being postponed from last year, the music-focused fun run returns with a 5km park run accompanied by a soundtrack of rock, pop, old-school, hip-hop and dance tunes. Stick around after the finish line for a huge music festival.

SPECIAL SCREENINGS: Bangkok Underground Film Fest

Returning for its second year, the four-day film festival aims to support independent, DIY and first-time filmmakers with a series of outdoor film screenings ranging from short films to video arts. Continues in March.

WHY NOT: Big Bang 2017 Swing Night 

A night all about dancing to live swing music, featuring music from Sweden’s Carling Big Band, who’ll be accompanied by 140 dancers from around the world. There also promises to be plenty of local street eats from food vendors and a free introductory dance class.

CONCERTS: Guns N' Roses

The legendary rock band first formed in 1985 and best known for the songs "Sweet Child 'O Mine," "Welcome to the Jungle" and "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" will take the Bangkok stage as part of their Not In This Lifetime world tour. Tickets available from Thaiticketmajor.

COMEDY: Eddie Izzard
