Take a leap of faith at Singapore's first bungy tower
Adrenaline junkies, form up
Remember how Singaporeans lost their marbles when the extreme, stomach-churning G-Max Reverse Bungy at Clarke Quay, which hits speeds of up to 100km/h and an acceleration of 5G, first opened in 2003? And another time when they added the GX-5 Extreme Swing? It’s no secret that Singaporeans are adrenaline junkies at heart. Come August, you can add bungy jumping to the list of crazy things to do in Singapore.
If you’ve been to Siloso Beach recently, you would’ve seen the barricades surrounding a 50-meter tall metal structure that’s been in the works for a while. We first heard about the construction of AJ Hackett Tower, Singapore's first bungy tower, some time in May last year, and now they’re close to completion. Apart from bungy jumping off the 50-meter platform, this new attraction will also feature the world’s first dual giant swing system from a height of 47 meters, where two groups of participants (up to three at once per swing) can race to the bottom at speeds of more than 100km/h; the world’s first commercial vertical skywalk facility where participants can walk vertically 44 meters down the shaft of the tower while being parallel to the ground; and a 40-meter long transparent skybridge that's 47 meters above the ground.
There’s no official opening date confirmed at the moment, but if you want to be one of the first few people to experience these activities and win bragging rights, all you need to do is head online and bid from now till Jul 30, 11:59pm. The top 10 auction winners will be invited to the grand opening day and be part of the official opening shenanigans. The next 90 winners can still take part in their selected activities the day after, while winners after the 100th place can redeem the experience any time within the first three months of opening. The bidding starts from $250 for the bungy jump, $125 for the giant swings and $110 for the vertical walk.
