Neil Halstead

 

 

 

Neil Halstead is best known as the frontman of seminal '90s shoegazers Slowdive, before moving into more psych-country territory as Mojave 3. As part of a solo acoustic tour he will visit Hong Kong this April before joining up with his former bandmates for their much-anticipated renuion in July (see below). Dubbed by Time Out Magazine as “one of Britain's greatest songwriters,”  Halstead’s solo tunes take their cues from new and old English and American folk.

Deafheaven

 

 

 

One thing we possibly don't get enough of here in Bangkok is the opportubnity to bang our heads in the throng of a sweaty crowd. One of the most anticipated heavy rock tours this year will see all-conquering US black metal band “Deafheaven” head our way. Adding post-rock and shoegaze to the mix, their 2013 album Sunbather was named among Pitchfork’s best new music among other more prestigious accolades.

The veteran instrumental band from Chicago are heading to Singapore this May, much to the joy of the region's big post-rock scene. Since their formation in the early '90s, the band's built up a cult following for their loping blend of fusion jazz and progressive rock, as highlighted in acclaimed albums like TNT and Millions Now Living Will Never Die.
