Oh, what an exciting weekend we have ahead of us. It’s going to be impossible to pen in everything but thankfully some of these events are happening throughout next week. If you’re a big lover of coffee, three of Melbourne’s best cafes are coming to brew free cups for all. Then there are food festivals you can completely indulge in, as well as a number of festivals you can catch artsy, visually-pleasing films with moving plotlines. So much to do, so little time.

Friday, May 19

CONCERT
Whip out that pair of bell-bottoms you’ve kept in the back of your wardrobe all these years for the OGs that dominated the disco music era of the late ‘70s and 80s, Village People. They will be performing in Singapore for the first time as part of their 40th anniversary. Dance to their chart-toppers and crowd favorites like “Go West”, “Y.M.C.A”, and many more. Head over to craft beer hawker stall 3rd Culture Brewing Co. at Maxwell Centre for a hopped beers takeover. Breweries include BrewDog, Brewlander from Singapore, Fierce Beer (with their Day Shift Pale Ale and Split Shift IPA), Green Flash, Hong Kong Beer Co., Sainte Cru and Stockade. May 19

PARTY
Plan ahead for this one guys. Urban Ventures is back for its sixth block party and this time, they will be taking over the Duxton Plain Park, transforming the space into a "social dining haven" filled with food, music, art, markets and lots of socializing. May 19-21

FILM
Check out the six films at this year's French Animation Film Festival organized by Alliance Francaise de Singapour, including the opening film My Life as a Zucchini by Claude Barras, the whimsical Ivan Tsarevitch and the Changing Princess and The Girl Without Hands. May 19-21

The diagnosis of stage 4 thyroid cancer may be traumatic for local ceramic enthusiast and PR practitioner Suan Ong, but she did not let that stop her from living a full life. Here's your last chance to catch the Broadway feel-good musical comedy Sister Act. Featuring original music from eight-time Oscar winner Alan Menken, the musical follows the story of Deloris, a wannabe diva whose life goes topsy-turvy after becoming the key witness to a crime. Through May 20

FILM
The long-running European Union Film Festival (EUFF) returns for its 27th edition with a snazzy new home—the National Gallery. The festival brings together 27 thought-provoking, captivating and hilarious films from across the continent. Through May 21

FOOD
The Coffee Lounge at Goodwood Park Hotel may be known for its Taiwanese porridge menu, but from now till the third week of May, satisfy your love for laksa as they create six decadent and delicious renditions using homemade rempah (spice paste), other high quality ingredients and garnished with daun kesum (laksa leaves). Think laksa with crab leg, laksa in claypot form, and the like. Through May 21

ART
Kult takes a light jab at fancy art fairs with their own tongue-in-cheek version, The $200 Show: Actually Affordable Art. You can expect to see a variety of artworks spanning across mediums like risograph prints, art on vinyl, resin-cast sculptures and original illustrations from local and international artists like Kult's founder Mojoko, local multidisciplinary creative agency fFurious and illustrator Mindflyer. The bistro, rooftop bar and mini-movie lounge on Ann Siang is hosting a cult film month with selection of cult favorites like Donnie Darko and Delicatessen. Part of Voilah! French Festival 2017, National Museum will be presenting a comprehensive look into the works of Jacques Tati, a French screenwriter, director and actor, at Playtime: The Complete Works of Jacques Tati .
