We apologize for making a mistake about MOVEaBAR two weeks ago: it’s not part of Bangkok Bistro Riverfront, but actually another huge dome next to it. Unfortunately, the recent grand opening event revealed that its a bit of a let down. As part of their rebranding, Sangsom whiskey created this guerrilla-marketing bar project and hired starchitect Duangrit Bunnag to design the layout, star chef Ian Kittichai to create the menu and Ted Yutthana to put together the music lineup. It sounded awesome, so we did expect a lot. But not only was Duangrit’s style barely apparent (it felt closer to something from Orbit Studio, who designed Bed Supperclub), but his massive free-form pyramid in the center of the room is more of an obstacle to navigate than something to appreciate. Find yourself on the wrong side of the eyesore and you won’t even see the live singer. The food is OK, but it’s hardly representative of what we know Chef Ian is capable of. Finally, the sound system is terrible.
