Taxi Tehran

Directed by controversial filmmaker Jafar Panahi, Taxi Tehran shows the director driving a taxi through the busy streets of Tehran to pick up various passengers who serve as conduits for provocative social and political discussion of Iranian social mores. Jul 10-15. The Projector

Japanese Film Festival

Yasmin Ahmad: A Movie Screening Tribute

Catch three early films by the late talented Malaysian filmmaker, who is most well-known for her arthouse success Sepet. This movie marathon brings together the films Rabun, Mukhsin and Talentime back to back. Jul 25-26, 4:30pm, Malay Heritage Centre

First Take

A showcase of the newest and most promising short films by upcoming film directors based in Singapore. Filmmakers whose works are selected will have a platform to showcase their works and participate in a Q&A following the screening. Aug 3, 8pm, The Substation
