From comic book festivals to rooftop potlucks and Malaysian post-rock, you'll never have a reason to be bored this weekend.

A Design Film Festival

It’s pretty much sold out, but we’re going to try and score rush tickets at the door by showing up 30 minutes early. Films are inspired by designers and artists like legendary street photographer Vivian Maier, Japanese architect Tadao Ando and fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent. 

Cafe Fest

Enjoy latte art, fresh pastries, and snacks at the world's first-ever cafe-hopping event, with 12 selected homegrown cafes like Maison Ikkoku and Toby's Estate. Well-known local bands such as The Sessionists and 53A will also be there to entertain as you munch on delectable treats. 

 

3:THESHOW

In celebration of its eighth year of music-making, Malaysian post-rock group COMA will be making its Singapore debut. Drawing inspiration from groups like Mogwai and Set Fire on Flames, the band will be sharing the stage with local post-rock outfit In Each Hand A Cutlass and fusion artists neoDominatrix. 

Space Flower: new works by Naoko Tosa

Award winning Japanese artist Naoka Tosa is presenting a new set of works. Paying homage to a Rimpa, a historical school of Japanese painting, the collection's fragmentation of flowers by natural elements symbolizes the advent of a new future for Japan. 

Para//el Presents Scuba(UK) with Jeremy Boon

Having set the benchmark for incorporating techno influences into a bass heavy, multi-genre sound, Berlin-based DJ Scuba ascended through the ranks with 2008’s ‘‘A Mutual Antipathy’’. The talented producer quickly gained a name for himself in the underground electronic music scene, and will be spinning his beats at Zouk with resident DJ Jeremy Boon. 

Little Green Dot Potluck Picnic

Popular eco-friendly lifestyle blog Little Green Dot is having its first-ever potluck picnic, held on the rooftop of the recently opened National Design Center. Imagined as a net zero energy public space in collaboration with Pomeroy Studio, the rooftop also offers stunning panoramic views of the city. 

Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention 2014

The annual geek fest is back! Be the first to get your hands on new artwork and the autographs of your favorite creators. Don't forget to look out for works by local comic book writers such as Troy Chin and Kenfoo at an exclusive booth set up by local bookstore Books Actually.
