From Halloween to night markets to the start of the Singapore Writers Festival, here's where you need to be this weekend.
This 10-day event features talks and workshops with over 200 literary talents, including big names like fantasy writer Raymond E. Feist, notorious feminist and social critic Naomi Wolf and literary stalwart Paul Theroux.
This year's Halloween party at Clarke Quay features live band performances, stage games and a chance to win up to $200 worth of dining vouchers if you come decked out in costume. There's also complimentary entry to clubs in the area and lots of drink promos.
This two-day carnival-style festival boasts over 20 international and regional artists, including Grammy-nominated producer Morgan Page and German techno duo 2ManyDJs. Aside from music acts, you can also expect roving dancers, acrobats and freak show performers.
Symmetry Entertainment brings in three music acts that are fast gaining popularity in indie music circles. First up is Swedish band The Royal Concept, who burst onto the music scene with hits like "Damn" and "Gimme Twice", followed by US-based folk-pop artist Blackbird Blackbird and orchestral rock band Mono.
One of Germany's finest classical dance companies, The Stuttgart Ballet performs an inventive piece based on Alexander Pushkin's classic Russian poem. The production features music by Tchaikovsky and sets and costumes by opera director Jurgen Rose.
As part of Orchard Road's pedestrianization program, Lululemon Athletica will be organizing a massive yoga block party where participants can sign up for numerous yoga classes. Registration will take place at 5:30pm, with classes beginning at 8pm.
Part of the Movember campaign to raise awareness of men’s health issues, the night market will feature handmade local products and new vendors like Afterglow, A.K.A. and Wayward x Mojak. Weish, Gardener and Underground Shenanigans will also be playing live acoustic sets.
