Baybeats Festival
Three days of original folk, pop, metal, post-rock, emo, punk and electro music from homegrown and regional talents await at this annual festival. In between sets, head to the Festival Village to check out goods from local vendors and indie crafters. Expect awesome performances from .GIF, Aspectrum, Jaime Wong, Monster Cat, Pixel Apartment and more.
Pink Dot
Join ambassadors Sebastian Tan, Janice Koh and Brendon Fernandez, along with thousands of others in this year's celebration of openness, understanding and tolerance of our lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. Come early to watch musical performances or chill out and have a picnic and stay to watch (or be part of) the grand dot formation.
XX Marks Your Spot
W Hotel's bar brings regional DJs to crank up the beats for this series of parties. From Bali to Hong Kong, Bangkok and back, each DJ brings their signature blend of dance music infused with genres like hip hop, rock 'n' roll and even reggae. Wrapping this series up is Japanese DJ Kenji on June 27, who's known for his ability to effortlessly switch between genres, including nu-disco, lounge and deep house.
Zouk Flea & Easy x Cosmopolitan SG Commits
Score some great bargains as Zouk's signature flea returns with interesting stalls selling everything from vintage knick knacks to baked goods and new threads. Proceeds will go towards Wicare, a voluntary welfare organization that provides support to widows and fatherless children.
Frankenstein (Benedict Cumberbatch as Creature)
Listen up, fans of Cumberbatch (also starring in BBC's Sherlock): don't miss this high definition screening of Oscar-winner Danny Boyle's stage production of Frankenstein with the popular actor playing Frankenstein's Creature, opposite fellow award-winning actor Jonny Lee Miller as Frankenstein.
Kranji Countryside Farmers' Market
Touted as the first authentic farmers' market, everything at this farming enclave is locally-sourced, fresh and showcases the best of local vegetables, fruits, herbs, goat's millk and even frogs. Get locally-made jams and sauces from favorites like GSH Conserves, Hunter's Kitchenette, Mofo Chilli and Eastern Granola, too. For those who don't drive, there's a shuttle service available from Kranji MRT.
A Bookbinding Cause: Masterclass
A collaboration between The Thistle Bindery and The Arts House, this bookbinding class will introduce the limp binding technique, which has been used in Europe for centuries to protect books.
