In exciting news for theater lovers, a new Thai production of John Cameron Mitchell’s musical-cum-movie will hit the stage this June, promising to be a "glam rock musical party."

Hedwig and The Angry Inch was previously put on by the Bangkok University Theatre Company back in 2011. Now it's back promising to be bigger and better, featuring some members of the old team led by music director/composer Rapeedech Kulabusaya and theater designer Natta Thapparat from the new Walrus Theatre Company.

The story of Hedwig follows a rock singer who undergoes a sex change to escape from Communist-era Berlin to the American Midwest when he falls in love with a US soldier. Hedwig be performed by familiar face Chanudol Suksatit (who also played the lead role in the BU production), who'll be joined by veteran actress Ratchawin Wongwiriya

The production will take place at Mongkol Studio RCA on Jun 12-14, 19-21 and 26-28. We’ve also been told by Rapeedech that the whole auditorium will be set up like a bar for a highly interactive experience.

Tickets are now available at B1,000 via BananaBooking.com. The play will be in English with Thai subtitles. For more information, visit www.facebook.com/HedwigThai
