Grow or sport a mustache this November to help promote awareness and raise funds for men's health issues.

Movember, an annual global charity event, is set to launch its first-ever Singapore campaign on November 1.

This month-long event encourages participants to grow a mo (slang for mustache) to help promote awareness and raise funds for men's health issues like prostate cancer—the third most prevalent cancer among Singaporean men according to Movember—and depression. Female participants can wear a mo accessory to show their support.

Established in 2003 in Australia, Movember has run official campaigns in 21 countries including New Zealand, US, the UK, Ireland, Norway, Belgium and the Czech Republic. Singapore and Hong Kong will play host to Movember's first foray in Asia. The Singapore arm currently funds the Singapore Cancer Society and help further local prostate cancer and male mental health programs.

Movember in Singapore will open with an island-wide shaving event for men to start with a clean slate. The campaign's grand finale is a Gala Party at Tanjong Beach Club on the last day of November, with participants showing off their groomed and stylish mustaches.

Online registration opens on September 15 on the Movember website.
