Walking tour to explore the art of Bangkok's riverside communities
Join the Friends of the River for an action-packed day by the river.
This Mar 27, non-profit organization Friends of the River hosts an action-packed day to support the city’s riverside communities though art at Baan Poon Village (Rama 8 Bridge, Thonburi).
Participants will be able to explore the culture and art hidden in these small communities on foot or bike along a mapped route. Along the way you'll encounter art installations, painting and T-shirt screenprinting workshops by members of the community, stalls selling handmade items, as well as a communal wall painting project lead by the curator of Bangkok CityCity gallery and a sketch walk with the Bangkok Sketchers group.
The day ends with a group seminar discussing issues of the riverside and ways to support the sustainability of these villages. Away from the art, there is also a free boat ride along the Chao Phraya River from 1pm-3pm taking you from the Jam Factory (Khlong San) down to Baan Poon Village to explore the beauty of the river. The trip is limited to 40 seats—for reservations, contact [email protected].
