Parades and fireworks not really your thing? While away your National Day weekend at the ArtScience Museum instead—it's opening its doors to the public entirely free of charge on Aug 9 and 10 in commemoration of the nation's birthday. This means that you'll be able to visit the acclaimed Annie Leibovitz: A Photographer's Life 1990-2005 exhibition without forking out a single cent (tickets usually cost $15). You'll even get to enjoy a free guided tour of the exhibition on Aug 10 at 11:30am.

If you already made a beeline for the Leibovitz exhibition when it debuted in April, fret not—there are lots of other free public programmes to participate in as well. Try a "Painting with Light: Cyanotype" workshop (Aug 9, 1:30pm), where you can learn about one of the oldest photographic processes in the world, or a guided architectural tour of the museum (Aug 9, 5pm).
