Zouk gives us a taste of its new home with a Clarke Quay block party and a new bar
The bar is an all-new and pretty stylish cocktail and bar bite concept.
Nightlife behemoth Zouk has been fixing to move from its legendary Jiak Kim premises for months and months now, and looks like they're finally starting to take steps in that direction. While you won't be able to preview the new Clarke Quay space, you can get a feel for it this F1 weekend, when they roll out the Zouk Block Party on Sep 17.
To be clear, it's not a wild, late-night affair. In fact, it takes place at the wholesome Clarke Quay Fountain Square, kicks off at 2pm and runs till a respectable midnight. Expect to see their recurring Flea & Easy market, and a roster of DJs such as LeNerd and Jeremy Boon from 7pm onwards.
Even more intriguing is Zouk's new Clarke Quay bar, Red Tail, the only glimpse we have so far into the new space. Looks like it's going to have a tropical-industrial look, all bare concrete with spare foliage painted on and pops of red. Craft beers and spirits aside, there's a cocktail list whose sections are named after famous neighborhoods in Asian cities like Lan Kwai Fong in Hong Kong (lots of botanical and fruity concoctions here) and the Row in KL. Drinks range from $18-25. On the food front are fusion bar bites like Scotch century eggs ($9), rou bing bao (served in an English muffin with provolone cheese, $17) and pizzas.
