THEATER: 1969 A Space Odyssey? Oddity!

Japanese theater company Kaimaku Pennatrace performs a highly energetic and surreal story set in 1969 about three astronauts figuring out space for the first time, inspired by David Bowie's song "Space Oddity."

ART: Good People, Good Words: Launch of World’s Most Renowned Pop-Up Shop

Occupying the upstairs floor of WTF Bar & Gallery from May 4-Jul 3, the shop showcases products which, in the words of its organizers, are “carefully curated and designed by their own designer” in a “clean white loft space, using Kinfolk as a role model.” So far, so Bangkok pop-up—if not for the wall plastered with a veiled, polka-dot likeness of one man with his own vocal opinions on who are and are not “good people.” Rest assured, though, you can actually take this stuff home, whether it’s a charming canvas tote bag or handcrafted enamel mug.

NIGHTLIFE: Together Festival 

One of the city’s biggest EDM festivals returns for its fifth edition, this year with huge international names including the British electronica duo Disclosure and American electro house DJ Steve Aoki as their headliners. They’ll be joined by other big names including Andrew Rayel, Firebeatz, Galantis, Nervo and Tohamt for an unforgettable night of quality electronic dance music. ART: Encounter Culture Fashion Show and Design Exhibition

WORKSHOPS: Minimalme Inspiration Photography Workshop

The fashion website hosts its first ever workshop, where three successful photographers (to be revealed on the day of the event) will lead a beginner's guide to fashion photography. ART: Re-Look

Japanese artist Soichiro Shimizu gives abandoned photographs a second chance of life for his latest exhibition. The show  features work from reputable Thai photographers including Pahparn Sirima Chaipreechawit, Sam Cochaputsup, Dhanainun Dhanarachwattana and Benya Hegenbarth, which Shimizu has reworked in line with his own style.

Director Karin Baipaisarn presents a modern Thai adaptation of Danish author Karl Gjellerup's 1906 novel about love and religion, The Pilgrim Kamanita, which follows the journey of Vasitthi as she learns the true meaning of love and eternity through religion.

CLASSICAL: Vladimir Ashkenazy Concert 

The Bangkok Symphony Orchestra organizes this two piano recital by the three-time Grammy award-winning Russian pianist and conductor  and his son Vovka. The annual documentary festival dedicated to screening architecture, design and art films hosts a special screening in remembrance of the late iconic female architect who passed away in March. The film follows the life and work of the Pritzker Prize-winning architect and her journey to success.

MEET-UPS: Creating Cities: Co-creating Charoenkrung

This edition of the Bangkok River Exchange invites Australian Marcus Westbury to share his story of resuscitating the downtown-shopping precinct of Newcastle, and Australian city in New South Wales. He'll be joined by Dr Peeradorn Kaewlai and Yossapon Boonsomin of the Charoenkrung Creative District project that hopes to spark inspiration and an idea-sharing community aimed at rebuilding Bangkok.

THEATER: Kon Rak Mime Festival

Five acclaimed female Thai directors select international films to be screened bi-monthly from May-Nov.
