Iconic British rock band Deep Purple performs at The Star Performing Arts Centre.
English hard rock and heavy metal band Deep Purple is set to perform at Singapore’s The Star Performing Arts Centre on March 12, 2013.
The group has sold over 100 million albums worldwide, won an Innovator Award at the 2011 Classic Rock Awards in London and was nominated for a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction in 2013.
Formed back in 1968, the tune “Hush” from the group’s debut album, Shades of Deep Purple hit the top five hit in America and launched them to fame. But their best known release is Machine Head (1971), which reached the top spot in both the United Kingdom and the United States, and produced their most iconic song “Smoke on the Water.”
The group disbanded in 1976 and was on hiatus till 1984 when they put out Perfect Strangers featuring hit tune “Perfect Strangers” (see music video below). More recently, the musicians released the studio album Rapture of the Deep (2005).
