NIGHTLIFE: Phatfunk & Absolut feat. Commix 

Commix, the 170bpm creative project of George Levings (and formerly Guy Brewer), performs with support from DJs Azek, DeLorean and Instinct.

NIGHTLIFE: Lush Bangkok Music Festival

An electronic music festival that will take over five floors of a hotel, including dancefloors in the grand reception hall and massive stages throughout, plus an indoor market and art installations spread across the space. Expect music from 32 DJs across 7 zones, plus live bands like Degaruda, Stylish Nonsense and the Sangsom Massacre.

THEATER: The Nutcracker 

As part of the month-long International Festival of Dance and Music (running through Oct 19), German classical ballet company Karlsruhe Ballet will perform the world-famous piece. The Christmas-themed spectacle will involve 31 dancers prancing and pirouetting to Tchaikovsky's music. Tickets are B1,000-B3,500, available on Thaiticketmajor.

ART: Awkward Relationship 

Young Thai illustrator Tae Yarvit presents a collection of playfully nuanced sketches depicting stories from his personal life, with the opening night featuring experimental music from Stylish Nonsense, Plern Pan Perth and DJ MM Kosum.

SPECIAL SCREENINGS: New Zealand Film Festival

The first ever film festival dedicated to showcasing films from New Zealand to celebrate the 60-year relationship between the Thai and New Zealand embassies. The three selected films are said to be quality movies that showcase the culture of New Zealand, and include The Dark Horse (2014), Hunt for the Wilderpeople (2016) and Whale Rider (2002).

FESTIVAL: Courageous Bangkok

Twenty of Bangkok’s leading chefs and major food and beverage suppliers gather and serve food and drinks to raise awareness of sustainable living. Expect food from the likes of Gaggan, Bo.lan, Quince, The Oyster Bar and Little Beast, and drinks from Beervana, Wine Garage and Raitong Organics. A book of 10 tickets costs B1,500 at the door and proceeds go to Courageous Kitchen, a Bangkok-based charity organization that funds hill tribe children to gain basic kitchen handling, English and leadership skills.

SPECIAL SCREENINGS: Mama Rainbow

Jam welcomes Chinese filmmaker and activist Fan Popo to host a special screening of his 2012 documentary Mama Rainbow, which follows six Chinese mothers who have experienced their children coming out as homosexualt. There will be an open discussion about the film with Fan Popo following the screening. Free entry.
