Frankenstein-ocracy

After some difficulty finding a suitable space, this political exhibition by The Nation's political cartoonist, Stephff, illustrating Thailand's dysfunctional democratic process, will take place in the versatile new Chinatown venue Cho Why for just one night only.

Days of (Endless) Meaninglessness

Sydney-based Thai mural painter Phaptawan Suwankudt presents her contemporary work in the final exhibition of the year at 100 Tonson Gallery. Five sets of acrylic on canvas, inspired  by selected photographs of Bangkok during the political turmoil of 2013-2014. A perfect excuse to visit Phloen Chit this weekend. Opens Oct 16 at 7pm.

The Cult

A noir comedy musical by Nophand Boonya kicks off this week. Set in the year 1984, a time when schools across the country competed fiercely to partake in Thailand's national music contest, an official on the judging committee travels to an ordinary school and is soon confronted with its horrific secrets.

All about Y

Minimalist furniture, works of art and sculptures come together at this exhibition, combining the works of Thailand-based designer and sculptor Jean Jacques Argueyrolles and up-and-coming designers from Thailand and Taiwan. Opening on Oct 17 at Golden Tortoise Gallery.

High Time: Numero Uno

The new party collective announce their arrival at the Soy Sauce Factory. DJs GAOLAO (Vacancy/High Time) and Juice Willis (Late Night Brotherhood/High Time) spin hip hop to soul, joined by the unpredictable Pitchfork darling lee (asano+ryuhei) performing live.

A Night at the Musical

Famous West End conductor Michael England teams up with singers John Owen Jones and Leila Benn Harris (Les Miserables and The Phantom of the Opera) to perform popular pieces from musicals by Andrew Lloyd Webber (Aspect of Love, Starlight, The Woman in White and Love Never Dies) and Claude-Michel Schonberg (Miss Saigon and Les Miserables).

Psych-Out Minifest by Archive Project

The parking lot of Prach Preaw Studio goes all psychedelic rock with instruments ranging from the Indian sitar to our own khene. Performances from 4-11pm. There will also stalls selling clothing, books, vinyl, antiques and organic farm produce. There will be tie dye shirts on sale if you want to blend in with the crowd.
