We’re moving from the outside lawn to the gallery of The Jam Factory this week for the launch of An Original by the Originals, a new contemporary exhibition by 12 Bangkok artists who have come together to create 24 unique screenprint designs. It officially opens this May 7, but there will also be different workshops running every Saturday by The Archivist studio for the rest of the month.
One of the latest additions to the Charoenkrung area, 23 Bar & Gallery, launches its first exhibition on the 2/F this Thursday at 5pm. It features the work of Thai artist Kongsak Poonpholwattanaporn, who expresses human liveliness and happiness through paintings of water.
It looks to be another big night at the Thonglor gallery/bar this May 7 as the story-telling crew returns for an intimate event that includes poetry and stories. There’s no theme to the readings, but there will be specially themed Bacardi cocktails.
Alliance Francaise Bangkok opens an art exhibition by French photographer Roland Neveu, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the fall of Cambodia's capital to the Khmer Rouge regime. There will also be a special screening at 7:45pm on the opening night of the film "Cambodge, apres l'adieu" in the presence of its director Iv Charbonneau, who lived in Cambodia throughout the period. The mixed-martial arts tournament is back at Live House Studio, packed with fights across three weight classes. The winner receives a cash prize of B20,000 plus a chance to go pro at the next event. Aside from the brand new art exhibition, there will also be a special event to raise funds for Nepal this Saturday featuring a 2nd hand market by Maziru, a heavy indie lineup featuring the likes of aire, Jinta, Abuse the Youth and Stylish Nonsense, plus craft beers by Sandport beer. Party kicks off at 5pm and runs through midnight.
