ART: Build Your Own Bangkok

At WTF Gallery & Cafe over in Thonglor on Mar 12, BK’s very own Kathy MacLeod, author of the weekly “That’s What She Said” comic, presents her solo exhibition comprising colorful large-scale drawings of our city’s many different eco-systems, featuring unique inhabitants from sex tourists to Khao San Road vendors. GIGS: Translaectica: Bangkok Edition 02

The trans-queer party will be held at Jam this Thursday, featuring a workshop by Stef Airswim on gender and sexual identity issues, followed by Natpwe the Feast of the Spirits documentary film on a Burmese trance ritual. Tara Transitory (One Man Nation) will then speak about her research in transgender history, and Spanish DJ duo Taami Kiiri will spin their usual eclectic ritual music from 8pm till late.

SALES & FAIRS: Grand Opening of Tha Maharaj

In celebration of the new iverside community, this weekend art & craft market will feature a contemporary art exhibition, workshops, food trucks and stalls, and live music from 1pm-9pm. Friday (Mar 13)

ART: Haynesville

American-Swedish photographer Jesper Haynes opens another exhibition in Bangkok this Friday at 7pm, showing black and white photography through the eyes of a ten-year-old boy who’s just received his first camera in Haynesville, Louisiana. His other exhibition, New York Darkroom, just opened last week, and is available for viewing at nearby Speedy Grandma, through Mar 29.

ART: Tzisss

Concrete.Projects curates a new group exhibition by Asin, Diamond, Druide, Matt Adams, Phai Amp, Toska, Trick and Trk that explores the artistic significance of graffiti, street and tattoo art. The opening party combines live painting, live hip-hop, a few pop-up shops and special drinks. Also opens this Friday at 6pm.

SALES & FAIRS: Artmor Art Street 

King Mongkut's Institute of Technology Ladkrabang's  Faculty of Architecture, hosts a two-day arts and crafts market with a farm-like atmosphere, featuring local indie bands Zweed N' Roll, Tabasco, Proud, Yanin, Better Weather, The Jukks, Polycat and Sqweez Animal, playing from 5:30pm till late.

Temperatures may be soaring, but that hasn’t stopped the Great Outdoor Market from returning this Mar 13-15 at a new riverside venue, Capanaya Riverfront. ART: Inhabited Hypercube

After the closure of its Ekkamai space early this year, Toot Yung Gallery organizes its first “nomad project,” a seven-day solo exhibition/block party in Chinatown’s Soi Nana. Dutch artist Daan Botlek exhibits large-scale paintings, posters, silkscreen prints and laser cut art objects over three art spaces. There will be daily workshops with street artists for children at Hub Sai Dek, a Chinatown NGO. The opening party will see Cho Why turn into a rooftop cocktail bar with special tapas, while nearby El Chiringuito will also join the fun, along with more food from street vendors and music from DJ Marine Caillat. New venue The Food Court will also be a part of the exhibition.
