4 reasons to head to Bedok this weekend*
And free entry to the SEA Games is only one of them.
[Sponsored] It might be a little far out for some, but there is plenty going on around Bedok, especially this coming weekend, to make it well worth the trip. You can even make a whole day out of it. Here are some ideas.
Forest Adventure
There’s ziplining at Forest Adventure
Located right by Bedok Reservoir, treetop obstacle course Forest Adventure is a great way to get out in nature and do something different with friends. Those up for a challenge should go for the Grand Course, which consists of 35 wobbly ladders, tricky crossings, funny walkways and giant zip lines stretching across the reservoir. The Grand Course will set you back $46, and takes about two-and-a-half hours to complete. There's also a low-key taster option for $29 if you're not too sporty. So put on some comfy clothes and grab a few friends.
You can cheer for the Singapore team
While you’re there, make some time to catch the water sports at the SEA Games. They’re non-ticketed and also taking place at the Bedok Reservoir. Even if you’re not big on sports, you might interested to check out the waterskiing competitions, where Singaporean Mark Leong, who broke a national record at the recent Asian Beach Games, will hopefully prove his stuff. The events take place Jun 11-14.
There are amazing views of the sunset
After spending all day sweating it out in the sun, head over to laidback German Bistro Wawawa at Bedok Reservoir Park. There’s a huge outdoor dining area that also offers a great view of the sunset over the water. On the menu is hearty stuff like seafood mushroom baked rice ($12.80) and soft-shell crab laksa ($13.80). There’s also a good selection of beers available, with options like Hoegaarden, Kilkenny, Sapporo and Erdinger (from $11).
Of course, there’s famous hawker food
End your day at the famous 85 Fengshan Market and Food Centre aka Bedok 85 (Blk 85 Bedok North St. 4). Tuck into the popular bak chor mee found at two competing stalls right next to each other: Seng Hiang Bak Chor Mee (#01-08) and Xing Ji Rou Cuo Mian (#01-07). That aside, there are also plenty of satay and barbecue wings for a late-night snack.
