It's the last week of October, and it's another packed one, with all the art festivals and film festivals converging, a bunch of new bars opening and even a silent disco in Tampines. Get marking those calendars.
The Giving Table: A Dinner in Support of the T-Project

Artistry is teaming up with former transgender model Amy Tashiana for the second edition of The Giving Table. She will prepare a buffet spread of typical home-style Malay dishes and 100% of the proceeds will go towards helping the T Project provide care, a home and empowerment for transgender individuals. Universal Studios Singapore is pulling all the stops for its sixth edition of the Halloween Horror Nights, circling the central theme of familiar Singaporean folk tales such as the ghastly Pontianak and the creepy Old Changi Hospital, as well as other Asian and Western horror stories such as Japan's notorious Suicide Forest. Head over to Kult Gallery, where more than 20 artists will turn the space into a record store reminiscent of the 1982 American coming-of-age film, Fast Times at Ridgemont High. Remixed album art, deconstructed vinyl and installations inspired by David Bowie will add to the 80s vibe. Through Oct 31

A painting-focused group exhibition out at art studio and gallery Libitum on East Coast Road brings together painters who have emigrated from the former USSR. In Immigrant Arts Exhibition, expect bold colors and brushstrokes and dream-like imagery in this collection. The paintings will be available for purchase as well. Through Oct 30

The film, Fantastic Planet, will be opening the student-run Perspectives Film Festival this year which explores the theme of Surrealism. An animated film that won the 1973 Cannes Film Festival’s Special Jury Prize, it follows a slave and master narrative, where a human "pet" manages to escape with a device he later uses to gain new knowledge and launch an uprising against his "masters". Centre National Interprofessionel de l'Enconomie Laitiere (CNIEL) and the European Union are teaming up to bring some of the best cheeses from Europe to the streets of Singapore. Part of their "Say Cheese campaign", a cheese-centric food truck will be hitting Mapletree Business City between 11:30am to 2:30pm where you can grab some bite-sized cheesy grub to try a spread of cheese-focused canapes. One of highlights of the on-going Singapore International Photography Festival (SIPF) is Li Zhensheng's "Witness: The Archive of Cultural Revolution", an exhibition that showcases over 80 of Li's images taken during the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution between 1966 to 1976. Through Oct 29

Head down to Gillman Barracks as they celebrate the opening weekend for Singapore Biennale 2016. *SCAPE will be setting up a horror house based on a true, horrific story at Museum of Horrors VI: The Doll Factory. A doll maker kept his family members “alive” by killing them and turning them into dolls. Part of the Singapore International Photography Festival, Daido Moriyama Prints and Books 1960s-1980s will making its debut at Deck.
