If you don't have tickets to the races, fear not. All is far from lost.

F1 weekend is notorious for jacking up prices everywhere in Singapore. But that's not to say you can't do some free things, too. Here are some of the most exciting.

ART
Cool art exhibitions are always free for all. Head to Figuratively Speaking, an exhibition that brings 11 regional artists to interpret the faces of their culture and heritage. Or check out  I Am Just Doing Aesthetics for Wisnu Auri's latest collection where he explores the juxtaposition of the beautiful and ugly and the past and present. 

LITERARY
You may still be able to snag tickets to the American Writers Festival where all discussions and readings by authors such as poet laureate Tina Chang and screenwriter Rajiv Joseph are free. 

WELLNESS
Find your inner zen at  Introductory Discussion on Vedic Meditation at Keong Saik Collab where Stefan Ravalli discusses the benefits of meditation.

Artistry hosts another session of Speakeasy and this time it features poet Stephanie Dogfoot and Deonn Yang, a third-year acting student. 

MUSIC
Head to Clarke Quay and groove out to live music at their Summer Live Music Festival with bands like NationOne and DJ James playing at Pump Room.

New photography exhibition 8 Women coincides with LGBT festival IndigNation. The exhibition has portraits of trans women who live and work in the Farrer Park and Little India neighborhoods as shot by Grace Baey.

PARTY
Lepark & Good Times host SAAAPPP!!! Vol. 1, an indoor party with DJs like Darren Dubwise and RAH and live acts like Tim De Cotta and Weish. There's also lots of food and beers, of course. Or head to new restaurant and bar CATO for music by Dream Team, which has Shaun Nocturnals, Jeevan Leroy and Kuma spinning beats all night.

OUTINGS
Park(ing) Day happens at Duxton Road this year with more pop-up stands and carpark lots being converted into urban beaches and urban gardens.

LITERARY
Trade and pick up books over beers at Books & Beer's Park(ing) Day edition at lots 42-43 on Duxton Road.

DRINK
If you're in the mood to catch F1, head to cocktail bar Fresh!, which will be screening the races all weekend. Doors open at 7pm.

OUTINGS
Join Shooshie Sulaiman and Melanie Pocock on a botanical walking tour around Gillman Barracks where you'll be spotting rubber trees and learning about the rubber industry's history at Residencies: Studios Sessions.

PARTY
Grungy locally inspired cocktail bar Tapow has a 2Fingers Electric Tea Party where you can swop music at the door and the DJs will be spinning electro indie music all night.

Sun, Sep 20

DRINK
Beerfest has a free Craft Beer Discovery Tour where groups of four to eight can sample wheat beers, amber beers, dark stout beers and green beers between 4-8pm. All you have to do is sign up.

PARTY
Tanjong Beach Club hosts yet another crazy Sunday party with Smack My Beach Up F1 edition. The entry and music by weelikeme and KiDG are free, but you'll of course have to buy your own drinks. Or head to the Koi Street Party happening on Haji Lane with DJs, food and drinks.
