Get your hands on these 240 books that the MDA just un-banned
Oh wait, you can't, because they're out of print.
The Media Development Authority (MDA) has lifted a ban on 240 publications, ranging from adult books to anti-colonial material. Some of the books and magazines that were banned include Tamil periodical Dravida Nadu, the play The Long March and The World of Sex by Fanny Hill, banned in 1949, 1959 and 1966 respectively.
17 publications are still banned under the Undesirable Publications Act and cannot be distributed here. Some of these include Playboy and Mayfair, and titles by the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society and the International Bible Students Association.
Before you rush out to get your hands on all this subversive material, note that most of these publications are out of print, which is not surprising since they were, well, banned for decades. But maybe now that the ban has been lifted, publishers will consider fresh print runs.
