It’s the home of the legendary Shaolin Temple.

Hot on the heels of the commencement of flights between Singapore and Wuxi, Tigerair has announced another new destination in China, one that is sure to excite martial arts practitioners and kung fu movie aficionados alike. The airline begins a thrice-weekly direct service between Singapore and Zhengzhou on Jun 28.

The capital of Henan province, Zhengzhou is home to the legendary Shaolin Temple which dates back more than 1,500 years. The temple is the birthplace of Shaolin wushu (or kung fu) and forms part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Beyond this claim to fame, Zhengzhou is also known as the gateway to natural attractions and historical landmarks like the Longmen Grottoes in Luoyang, the Yinxu ruins in Anyang and the waterfalls of Longtan Valley.

Return flights are currently available from $439 (including taxes and fees, excluding baggage). To make your bookings, head to the Tigerair website.
