Every year, the province of Prachuab Khirikhan welcomes a host of seasonal migrants to its coastline from now until around the end of October. These aren’t Scandinavians escaping the European winter but up to 100,000 different types of birds of prey making their own 4,000km migration to get away from the colder climes of Russia, Mongolia, Korea and Japan. They’ll pass through Thailand en route to their winter homes in Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines. The best places to catch the raptors is riding the thermals of Khao Radar [Hin Lek Fai Hill] in Hua Hin and Khao Dinsor in Chumphon with the best viewing times between 8-11am and 2-5pm.
