Been there done that with Shanghai and Beijing? Hit up the up-and-coming Chengdu, which will be home to St. Regis' fifth property in China come July.

It’s always good to size up where luxury hotels are setting their sights—a sign that the city is on the cusp of hotness—and to head to these up-and-coming destinations before the crowds flood in. Chengdu, one of our picks of the region's hottest travel destinations for 2014, is one prime example, what with The Mandarin Oriental, Swissôtel, Banyan Tree already working on projects. And the latest to join the bandwagon is St. Regis, which is all set to open its fifth Chinese property on July 1 this year.

Details are still sketchy, but we were told that the hotel will be located in the nerve center of Chengdu's business district, mere minutes away from Tianfu Square and Chun Xi Road retail area. It'll feature 279 modern guest rooms outfitted with custom furnishings, alongside more than 1,700 square meters of meeting and conference spaces that are ideal for business travelers.

Expect nothing short of top notch service that characterizes every St. Regis property—all guests will get to experience personalized St. Regis Butler Service at any time of the day, and dine at six destination restaurants and bars—especially fitting for a city that has been named as a UNESCO City of Gastronomy.

Also, while in Chengdu, don't forget to visit the famous Taoist temple at the top of Mount Qingcheng, see "The Legend Show" (a touristy-yet-hilarious rendition of Chniese opera) and stroll along the scenic Jinli Pedestrian Street. And of course, there are the pandas.

You can fly direct to Chengdu via SIlkAir and Air China (the latter offers daily flights). More information about the hotel can be found at the official St. Regis website.
