Glitzy meets tropical.

Fans of the Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok have more to look forward to, as the hotel brand is gearing up to open its second Thailand property, the Kimpton Kitalay Samui

Expected to open in late 2021, the 138-room Kimpton Kitalay Samui is perched on the northeast cape between Choeng Mon beach and the Fisherman’s Village—Koh Samui’s former fishing community-turned-walking street and dining hub. In its design, the resort aims to capture the spirit of the surrounding community. Think exposed rafters, slatted wood accents, splashes of ocean blue, wave patterns, and fixtures that recall fishing nets.

Backed up by the island’s jungly greenery, the hotel will offer a range of rooms, suites, and villas, ranging in size from 58sqm to a spacious 628sqm. Many will have their own private pools, and there’s a sea-facing hotel pool, too.

Like its partner property in Bangkok, which boasts popular venues like Ms. Jigger and Bar Yard, the Samui resort is putting an emphasis on food and drinks.

Kickstart your day with coffee and pastries at Hom, soak up the rays while enjoying light bites at the pool bar Shades, or head to all-day-dining restaurant Boho, set in a greenhouse-like gallery splashed with local arts and handicrafts.

The main draws, though, are the resort’s cocktail bar, Lanai, and Fishhouse, a beach house-style restaurant that focuses on seafood dishes.

The Kimpton Kitalay Samui is now taking reservations from Feb 2022 onward. For more information, visit the hotel website.
