Khao Yai just got a craft beer upgrade
Huge selection on tap and more in the fridge at a hot new craft brew joint in the hills.
Craft beer importer Smiling Mad Dog has opened a craft beer bar, Taproom Vacation, at Midwinter Khao Yai, carrying 10 different beers on 20 taps plus more in the fridges—all in the trendy adventure playground to the north.
On the tap, you’ll find To Ol (B300) from Denmark, currently ranked second best craft beer in Europe and ninth best craft beer in the world. Beerlao draft (B200), which tastes very different—in a good way—to the bottled version.
A must-try, has to be Muay Thai, a craft beer bar by the Smiling Mad Dog guys themselves, brewed in Vietnam. Available on tap are IPA and Witbier—both priced at B300.
Smiling Mad Dog imports and distributes over 50 labels of craft beer as well as Beerlao, London Essence Tonic, and many more in Thailand. If you’ve had a Brewdog Punk IPA (B300) or Brothers cider (B300), that’s them.
Food is what you’d expect from a beer bar: fried chicken wings (B300) and smokey BBQ ribs (B500). We especially love the Punk IPA-batter fried calamari (B300) and grilled mixed sausages served with pickled cucumber (B450).
In Bangkok, you can visit Taproom at TheCommons Saladaeng and Ladphrao.
