It’s been a great year for RuPaul’s Drag Race fans here in Singapore. Homophobic MP aside, we’ve had the likes of Bianca Del Rio, Shangela, Sasha Velour, and even the eight queen-strong Werq The World tour grace our undeserving shores. Well one more is coming our way, and she’s bringing some spicy communist flavour.

Making her debut in Singapore on May 12 is none other than the queen of characters herself, Katya Zamolodchikova, with an all-new show “Help Me I’m Dying”. Lesser-known as Brian Joseph McCook, the comedy queen first appeared on RPDR Season 7, winning hearts with her Russian hooker persona, and predictably clinching the title of Miss Congeniality. Something about her truly authentic vulnerability—or maybe people just appreciate zany.

Katya later returned for another shot at the crown in All Stars Season 2, eventually placing runner-up to the equally formidable Alaska Thunderfuck. She might not have made it into Ru’s Drag Race Hall of Fame, but who can forget the time she slayed the All Stars 2 finals lip sync with ingeniously crafted verse? Sure, Alaska may have painted herself blue, but it takes a true visionary to rhyme ‘whore’ with ‘herpes sore’.

These days, the class act keeps busy as a self-made YouTube star—hosting her comedy web series UNHhhh with fellow queen Trixie Mattel and appearing in many a viral sketch. She’s also clearly making time for rabid international fans like us; her one-night show is definitely not one to miss. Tickets go on sale Mar 25 at 10am on Sistic.

Help Me I’m Dying happens May 12 at Shine Auditorium.
