From pools with views to yoga sessions in the sky

Buying into a healthy lifestyle and sticking to a fitness plan requires much more than pure motivation these days. The only time we seem to check ourselves is when its time to make the requisite New Years resolution. But of course, we've all failed (at some point) to optimize our prepaid class passes and gym contracts. Fitness spaces know the pain, so they’re stepping up by offering spaces that are so pleasing to the eye you will come just for the views. Consider yourself one step closer to being a gym junkie.

One George Street

One George St is a Fitness First gym that eats all other gyms for breakfast. Situated in the CBD office tower of One George Street, the 10,000 sq ft club is an urban sanctuary for busy bees. The best part is its Insta-worthy heated wraparound infinity pool, that looks out into Chinatown and our cityscape. Other offerings include a scope of Technogym equipment and a comprehensive timetable of back-to-back workout classes. #05-01, 1 George St.

Gravity

Execs, looking for a gym to give you a run for your money? Try Gravity. An arm of Fitness First, this 38th floor holistic fitness club focuses on hospitality and is what you need if you're looking for an upgraded experience; giving off more a five-star hotel vibe than a run-of-the mill gym. Club membership is capped to a thousand. On standby are six fitness coaches and a nutritionist at the ready to craft a bespoke exercise regime and made-to-order nutritional meals. Gravity also offers a three-lane temperature-regulated infinity pool and perched on its rooftop is a Jacuzzi. Those who simply cannot pluck themselves from work have in-house working spaces and a boardroom at their disposal. Oh, and shirt-pressing services for when you work out. CapitaGreen #38-01, 138 Market St.

PowerMoves Pilates

PowerMoves Pilates is a well-kept secret, until now. Ostentatiously hidden from the uninitiated, studios are committed to a thoughtful Zen garden theme. Both locales in Dempsey and Novena Hub are minimalistic and set in lush greenery to allow you to forget the harried pace of urban life. Each week, both studios run 50 hours of expertly-choreographed Pilates classes. Large floor-to-ceiling windows tightly weave the pared-down indoors and tropical outdoors. For those who want to be closer to nature but languish in the heat, PowerMoves allows you to have your cake and eat it too. 8 Sinaran Dr.; 6 Dempsey Rd.

The Yoga School

The Yoga School wants to help you connect your breath with your inner sense, and they figured—what better place to do so than amongst the clouds? Your reprieve after a stressful day, the sun-soaked, pared down boutique studio is on the 39th floor of OCBC Centre. Classes are intimate and boasts of chic names like “Begin”, “Restore” and “Yin”, catering to veterans and those who haven’t yet jumped on the yoga bandwagon. The Yoga School also makes sure sessions are comfortable with designer towels, upmarket toiletries and curated yoga props for your use. #39-01/08, 65 Chulia St.

Skyline Aqua

Shyne, mastermind behind Skyline Aqua, says she was the first to bring in innovative FloatFit classes into the region. Classes are held in Parkroyal on Beach Road complete with stunning rooftop views. Central to Shyne's classes is fun. She believes that working out on water demands a full engagement of the smallest muscles you may otherwise have forgotten. Other benefits of working out in water is the reduced friction and hence a lower impact on joints. For that reason, classes are believed to have rehabilitation effects. Aqua yoga is the new black. But really, it must be nice to do some crazy stances whilst feeling weightless. 7500 Beach Rd.

Absolute You

At Absolute You, the spacious, innocuous reception gives nothing away—not of what is to come and definitely not the almost electrifying atmosphere of its spin rooms. The brand originally hails from Thailand, with 16 branches across the Land of Smiles and just one in Singapore for now. For the uninitiated, high-octane classes can feel a tad intimidated but at Absolute, spin classes offer a 15-min foundation course to brace you for the 45-min of actual cycling. Putting an extra spin on things, exercises are specifically engineered and paced so that fat-burning continues long after the class has ended. 178A Orchard Rd.

Groundzero

You may be forgiven for assuming that Groundzero is an underground club, all tripped out in strobe lights and powerful bike machines. Two high-intensity, full-body HIIT workout classes are offered here—the "Ride" spin and "Rumble" boxing classes. Throw your jabs at Rumble, where teardrop shaped punching bags filled with water give you a more realistic striking surface while minimizing the risk of injury. Then get your cycling fix at Ride, where highly personalized playlists unique to instructors keep you going. On weekdays, classes run from 7am to 8pm, giving you enough time to pop-in before work. 38 Carpenter St.
