And it’s free, too!

Here’s one for Japanophiles and indie movie fanatics alike: The Japan Foundation has just launched the Japanese Film Festival Online, a new streaming service promoting alternative Japanese films. Thanks to a collaboration with Moosic Lab, you can watch 12 indie films created by young Japanese film directors online, free of charge.

Moosic Lab is a promising project that unites upcoming film directors with musical artists to create new films with a single song as a starting point. Since its inauguration in 2012, numerous screenwriters and actors have found their start here. This competition-style film festival has become a launchpad for many young creators in Japan to uncork their creative juices.

The event runs from early Mar-May 2020. Visit the official website to watch the films and get more information.
