Festival season is nearly upon us—here's a roundup of Thailand's 11 best parties to get your glitter on.
Various Sukhumvit venues including Thonglor Art Space, 12 x 12, Case Space Revolution, De Commune, Livecube and Studio Lam, and concert organizer Come On is Such a Joy, are collaborating to host a three-day underground music festival on Nov 23-25. Among the lineup of international and local artists are Japan's cult psych-rock outfit Acid Mothers Temple & The Melting Paraiso U.F.O., renowned for their raucous live performances for more than 20 years; Finnish saxophonist and electronic musician Jimi Tenor; veteran Finnish techno producer Jori Hulkkonen; and Japanese experimental producers Daisuke Tanabe and Yosi Horikawa. Also taking part will be some of Bangkok's most exciting underground musicians: Stylish Nonsense, Chladni Chandi, Desktop Error and Cut the Crab, to name just a few.

One of the leading Thai music festivals gathers both mainstream and underground artists via online radio station Cat Radio. The two-day music festival will take place this Nov 24-25 with six stages at Wonder World Extreme Park offering a massive lineup of more than a hundred names and also a hundred pop-up stores with products from the artists themselves. Expect to see Poly Cat, BNK48, Stamp, Max Jenmana, Getsunova, T-Bone, Srirajah Rockers, Temp., Solitude is Bliss, Flure, Zweed N’ Roll, Skalaxy, and many more. 808 Festival is back for its sixth edition on Dec 8-9 at Live Park Rama 9 presenting various styles of music from EDM, electronic and trap to trance and dubstep. The first phase lineup has revealed trance icon Armin van Buuren of Dutch radio station A State of Trance, American EDM sensation Skrillex, Israeli psytrance DJ duo Vini Vici, and first-time local performances from Rezz, TroyBoi and Whethan, with many more names to be announced soon.

Supported by GMM Grammy and Pepsi, the biggest music festival in Thailand will celebrate its sixth edition under the theme Mun Ver Mak (very extra joyous). Multiple stages will span various types of music, including the debut of a new hip-hop stage, as well as non-musical performances including comedy shows from Ha Mai Jum Kud and Tuarae Chernyim. Taking place at The Ocean Khao Yai, Nakhon Ratchasima, on Dec 8-9 with more than 200 artists, the festival also offers camping grounds and parking. Moving from its previous location in Pattaya to Bangkok's 50,000-capacity Oasis Arena, Show DC, Rama 9, the two-day international music festival will bring together a killer lineup of J-pop, K-pop and electronic music on Dec 8-9. Leading with Japanese idol girl group AKB48, the lineup includes South Korean boy group sub-units Exo-CBX and NCT U (Ten and Taeyong), NCT 127, Super Junior D&E (Donghae and Eunhyuk), Ryeowook from Super Junior, DJ HYO (Hyoyeon) from Girls’ Generation and Taemin from SHINee. The electronic crew will be led by world DJ and producer Alesso, popular pop duo Oh Wonder, Galantis, Porter Robinson, and SHOWTEK together with a live performance from Major Lazer Soundsystem. This environmentally-friendly festival puts a big emphasis on social responsibility and sustainability. Beyond music, the festival also brings art installations, food, workshops, wellness, family activities and talks on sustainability, which last year resulted in being presented with a certificate from Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO) for reducing their carbon emissions to zero. The four-day festival's fifth edition takes place Dec 13-16 at The Field, Siam Country Club, Pattaya, with a lineup including British hip-hop producer Nightmares on Wax, drum ‘n’ bass pioneer Goldie, rising Chicago rapper Kweku Collins, Thai-Swedish pop singer Sirintip, genre-hopping Amsterdam DJ Young Marco, reggae-loving New Zealand producer and multi-instrumentalist Lord Echo, Thai reggae legends Job2do , Malaysian R'n'B singer NJWA and Burning Man-approved Fleetwood Mac remix project Fleetmac Wood. Celebrate New Year's on the beach at this four-day non-stop psychedelic trance festival from Dec 30, 2018 to Jan 2, 2019 on Koh Tao, Surat Thani. Besides the paradisical backdrop, there will be neon art installations and other decorations from African artist Carin Dickson and promoters Magic Phangan, together with trance music from an international lineup of DJs and artists.
