Another huge food fest for Bangkokians to go gaga for

Central Embassy is turning into food Mecca this week. From Aug 7-13, the luxury shopping mall hosts “The World in One Bite”, an event featuring over 100 pop-up restaurants and cafes from around Bangkok plus heaps of food tastings, prizes and exclusive dishes made by some of the city’s top names in food.

The food part of the bash is spread across the mall’s 2nd-to-5th floors. Hundreds of vendors will fill the multi-level layout, focusing mainly on fuss-free stall food from Thailand and a bundle of international cuisines throughout the entire event. A few more well-known food players are rolling out special dishes created with the event in mind, including a creamy mushroom pasta from Michelin-plate-winning Water Library, spicy cheese fondue ramen from Ippudo and a traditional Japanese set from Sushi Hinata.

There is a bit of TV star power at play here, too. Two well known food TV personalities, Dissakul “Tum” Prasittruangsak and Tanapat “First”, are going head-to-head in two cook-offs on Aug 11-12 from 3-4pm (limited to 100 servings per day). Central Embassy’s Balcony zone on the 2nd floor will play host to a showcase and workshop where the culinary minds behind Somtum Nua and Letar Coffee Bar will show you how to flex your muscles in the kitchen.

Yes, there are tons of prizes as well. Every B500 spent on Mother’s Day (Aug 12, if you forgot) earns mom a free keepsake—checkmark there—but also a chance to win a trip for two to any Thai Airways destination, plus B20,000 in pocket money to blow on 1/8th a Balenciaga bag or anything more reasonable you like. Likewise, you can snag B10,000 in food vouchers for any restaurant at Central Embassy courtesy of Truemoney Wecard (3 prizes total). If you are a member of Central Bangkok Privilege, spend B1,500 to score free ice cream from Muteki.
