Schedule a trip to Chiang Mai in the new year, because Jai Thep Festival is back on Jan 31-Feb 2.

The three-day outdoor festival offers the chance to enter a world built on art, music and magic at Chiang Mai's Lanna Rock Garden

This year’s festival will gather a host of unique theatrical, dance and visual performances, from world-class fire spinning, to dance troupes, circus acts and Thai cultural events—you can even be in with a chance of contributing by applying here. Art is a huge part of the event, with visual artists painting live, beautiful light installations, open mic stages and Thep talks (like Ted Talks), as well as workshops, family-friendly activities and more.

DJs will also spin all day and night. Among the highlights: local top-shelf underground DJ Mendy Indigo; French psytrance legend Talamasca; and Indonesian dance-electronic duo Bottlesmoker.

A one-day pass is just B800, while a three-day pass costs B2,000. For students those prices are B600/1,800. All tickets are available via Ticketmelon.
