Bedroom pop poster boy Gus Dapperton cruises into Bangkok
"I like the way that words come out of your mouth."
Indie icon Gus Dapperton is bringing his brand of bedroom pop to Bangkok on Dec 1 at Live Arena RCA.
The 22-year-old New Yorker, born Brendan Rice, has been releasing songs recorded from his bedroom in his parents' house since his early teenage years. But it wasn’t until 2017 that the infectious single “I’m Just Snacking” catapulted him to internet-sensation status overnight, thanks to its swaying melodies, dynamic vocals and lovelorn lyrics. That newfound fame led to him producing a track for the Netflix teen drama 13 Reasons Why—the synthy slow-jam “Of Lacking Spectacle.”
These days, he's averaging over a million listeners a month on Spotify.
For as much as Dapperton's music has caught fire, his flamboyant, Urban Outfitters-esque fashion sense has elevated him in the eyes of the indie in-crowd. Visible eyeliner, '90s-style jewelry, brightly colored clothing and that signature bowl cut—he ticks pretty much all the Gen Z hipster boxes.
See for yourself this December as he brings his flair to Bangkok, playing tracks from his debut LP, Where Polly People Go to Read—written, produced, recorded, mixed, and mastered solely by Dapperton.
Tickets (B1,590) are on sale now via Ticketmelon.
